Aspect Ratio Mastery: Choosing 16:9 Widescreen vs 9:16 Vertical
An analytical guide to configuring aspect ratios in TryScript, matching video dimensions to platform algorithms for maximum organic reach.
Choosing the Right Video Dimensions
In modern digital video, choosing the correct aspect ratio is just as important as writing a great script. Platforms are highly optimized for specific layout dimensions. If you upload a widescreen video to a vertical platform, the algorithm will bury it.
To maximize your organic reach, you must align your video's layout with the target platform's native formatting requirements.
Widescreen (16:9) vs. Vertical (9:16) Layouts
TryScript supports two standard aspect ratios for custom video generations:
1. Widescreen Layout (16:9)
- Resolution: 1920x1080 (or equivalent HD aspect ratio).
- Primary Platforms: YouTube Main, Web Landing Pages, Vimeo.
- Content Types: Long-form documentaries, deep-dive tutorials, business explainers.
2. Vertical Layout (9:16)
- Resolution: 1080x1920 (vertical HD).
- Primary Platforms: YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels.
- Content Types: High-impact hooks, quick facts, fast-paced educational clips.
Configuring Layouts in TryScript’s Dashboard
Inside the TryScript dashboard, configuring aspect ratios is completely seamless. Both the Text-to-Video tool and the Channel Detail setup feature dedicated aspect ratio selection menus.
When you configure a channel's settings, your chosen aspect ratio is automatically inherited by all daily automated child tasks. The platform's FFmpeg composition pipeline handles the layout formatting dynamically, ensuring your visual assets compile perfectly in widescreen or vertical layouts.
